In reply to your letter No. 2049/1916 of the 28th, of January lost, I have the honour to inform you that I would be prepared to accept the Sterling salary of the post of First Magistrate with effect from the date of my appointment if I were given the first increment pro- -vided always that His Excellency the Governor is not prepared to recommend that I should receive the maximumD. sterling salary of the post as originally requested on giving up such substantial pension privileges.
